Google has been active in the smart home sector for a long time and, with the Nest brand, has smart displays and security products in its portfolio, among other things. So far, people have not been active in the smart lighting category, but that has now changed, at least for personal use: there are now lots of new pictures and information about the smart desk lamp dLight.

Google's smart desk lamp dLight introduced a few weeks ago and reported that it is unfortunately not officially available. The lamp with the chic design and appropriate name is only available for Google employees, who can use it either in the office or at home. With more than 150,000 employees, you can have something like this designed and produced, but the result is still remarkable.
The lamp is very well thought out and has a really chic design that could go on sale at any time. At first glance, the two "plates" dominate, which form the base in a circular shape at the bottom and the lighting unit in an oval shape at the top. In between there is the "rod" as a connection, which can be adjusted in height, tilted and rotated in the lower part. They opted for a rigid component and not for the often flexibly used design.
Because the lamp has Wifi and can be connected to the Google Assistant, it had to be approved by the US approval authority FCC, which has now published many more pictures. Just take a look at the following gallery and the operating instructions, from which a lot can be seen.
The lamp is controlled either via Google Assistant or via the three controls on the base. These look like part of the design and are therefore not visible at first glance. In the middle there is a touch button and to the left and right of it are two curved arches with a recess. This can be used to set the brightness and light color (cold white to warm white) by swiping.
The entire product looks very well thought out and many hours of design work must have gone into it. It's either a designer's hobby project supported by the company, or the whole thing is seen as a test run for a lamp series planned for the future. I think that the product would already find its buyers in this form. You can find a lot more information about the lamp in our article from that time .
