10. The Eden Of Grisaia

Yūji Kazami's life takes an unexpected turn when he transfers to Mihama Academy. A school with only five female students, it's far from what Yūji imagined his high school life would be. The school's characteristics are akin to that of a prison, and each student at Mihama Academy has their own “circumstances” for being there.

Despite his situation, Yūji refuses to get involved with the other students' problems, preferring to live a normal student life. However, as he spends more time at Mihama Academy and learns about the girls' dark pasts, Yūji's resolve to stay uninvolved is tested.

The animation for this 2014 anime is stunning. The dark color palette used throughout the series sets the mood for the darker themes explored in the story. The character design is also well-executed, with each character looking unique and distinguishable from one another.

The music in the anime is excellent and adds to the emotional weight of each scene. While the ending themes were good, they weren't as memorable as the opening theme. The voice acting in the series is also top-notch, with the voice actors delivering exceptional performances.

9. In another world with my smartphone

Touya Mochizuki was an ordinary 15-year-old boy, until a tragic accident occurred. In a strange twist of fate, God offered him a second chance at life, but in a completely different world. As part of his special request, Touya brought his smartphone with him, which had been modified by God to function in the new world. With his newfound abilities and technological knowledge, Touya set out on a journey to explore this new world and make the most of his second chance.

Along the way, Touya met a diverse group of people, including powerful individuals and beautiful women. He quickly gained a reputation as a charismatic and capable leader, and became known for his ability to settle disputes and accomplish missions with ease. His smartphone proved to be an invaluable tool, allowing him to access information and communicate with others in ways that were previously impossible in this world.

As Touya continued his journey, he found himself drawn to the various women he met along the way. Though he was initially hesitant to pursue a romantic relationship, he eventually found himself surrounded by a group of beautiful women who were all vying for his affection. Touya's harem grew larger and more diverse with each new adventure, and he found himself constantly struggling to balance his responsibilities with his desire to be with the women he loved.

Despite the many challenges he faced, Touya remained optimistic and determined to make the most of his second chance at life. He continued to travel, to explore, and to build meaningful relationships with the people he met along the way. With his intelligence, charisma, and unwavering spirit, Touya became a beloved figure in this new world, inspiring those around him and leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.

8. We Never Learn

The protagonist of the story, Nariyuki Yuiga, attends Ichinose Academy in hopes of earning a college scholarship. However, in order to achieve this, she must tutor three female geniuses who excel in subjects she struggles with: Fumino Furuhashi in literature, Rizu Ogata in math, and Uruka Takemoto in everything except athletics. Along the way, they all develop feelings for Nariyuki.

As the story progresses, two additional characters are introduced: Mafuyu Kirisu, a teacher who is professional at work but lazy at home, and Asumi Kominami, an older ronin who appears to be a high school student.

During the Ichinose School Festival, there is a rumor that the couples who dance around the bonfire together will end up together. Nariyuki meets one of the girls there, but her identity is not initially revealed. The story has five different endings, each featuring Nariyuki ending up with a different girl. However, the identity of the girl he meets at the festival remains consistent across all of the endings.

In the final chapter, the girls see glimpses of these different endings in an alternate reality after they touch Nariyuki during the festival. It is then revealed that the legend of the bonfire dance was actually created by Nariyuki's father when he was a student at Ichinose Academy.

7. The World God Only Knows

Keima Katsuragi, a skilled gamer and self-proclaimed "God of Conquest," prefers the world of dating simulation games over real-life relationships due to his obsession with galge games. However, his arrogance leads him to accept an anonymous challenge to prove his supreme status in the gaming world, only to be tricked into helping a naive and mischievous demon named Elucia "Elsie" from Lute Ima. Elsie needs Keima's help to retrieve escaped evil spirits from hell that are scattered throughout the human world.

The catch is that the only way to capture these spirits is to conquer the hearts of real-life girls, something that Keima detests. Bound to Elsie through a deadly necklace, Keima is forced to navigate the unpredictable hearts of a group of 3D girls, putting his title of "God of Conquest" to the ultimate test. Despite the challenges he faces, Keima's determination and skills are admirable.

6. Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs

The story revolves around Kogarashi Fuyuzora, a homeless high school student on a quest to find a place to call home. His search leads him to the Yuragi Inn, a former hot spring inn that now serves as a budget guesthouse. However, Kogarashi soon discovers that the inn is haunted by the beautiful ghost Yuuna, whose body was found on the premises. Determined to help Yuuna find peace, Kogarashi embarks on a mission to help her fulfill her unfinished business, while uncovering the supernatural secrets of his fellow tenants.

This harem anime is known for its large number of girls vying for the affections of one guy. The series is packed with ecchi scenes and features a war for Kogarashi's heart among several stunning girls. Despite being the strongest character in the series, Kogarashi remains blissfully unaware of the attention he is receiving. While the manga version is superior, the anime adaptation is a visual treat for viewers who enjoy a good harem anime.

5. Nisekoi

Raku Ichijo may appear to be an ordinary high school student, with top grades and dreams of attending a prestigious university. However, he is secretly the son of the city's yakuza boss and the designated heir to his father's criminal empire. Despite this, Raku has no interest in following in his father's footsteps and dislikes the yakuza lifestyle.

When Raku was a child, he met a girl who gave him a padlock necklace and promised to meet him again to unlock it together. Now in high school, Raku suspects that his classmate, Kosaki Onodera, may be the girl from his past. Alongside his friend Shuu Maiko, Raku navigates the challenges of school life and his complicated family background while trying to unravel the mystery of the necklace and his childhood love.

This romantic comedy anime is a delightful treat for fans of the genre, with great animation and a catchy soundtrack. It shares similarities with popular anime series like Rent a Girlfriend and Quintessential Quintuplets. Despite his privileged background, Raku faces relatable struggles and obstacles, making him a sympathetic protagonist. While the manga is considered to be superior, the anime adaptation is still worth a watch. Additionally, the one-shot manga is highly recommended for fans of the series.

4. High School DxD

Issei Hyodo, a second-year high school student known for his foolishness and lustful tendencies, is killed by a girl on their first date. However, he is reincarnated as a demon and becomes a subordinate to Rias Gremory, a high-level demon who is considered the most beautiful girl on Issei's school campus.

This anime is a must-watch for harem fans as it captures the essence of a teenage boy's fantasy. The series is filled with risqué scenes and moments, but also has an intriguing story. The dynamic between master and subordinate is a major focus in the series. If you haven't watched it yet, give it a chance and see what all the hype is about!

3. Rent a girlfriend

In Japan, there are services where you can rent people to play the roles of family members, children, and even a girlfriend. When Kazuya's love interest rejects him, he decides to try out this service for himself. Luckily, the girlfriend he rents is very cute, but she wants to keep their relationship a secret from her acquaintances. To make matters more complicated, Kazuya and his new girlfriend both attend the same university, and their grandmothers are close friends and neighbors. As Kazuya gets to know his girlfriend more, he realizes that she's not as sweet as she seems. What will happen to their romance?

This anime is one of my current favorites in the harem genre. The animation and art are stunning, and all the character designs are attractive. The voice actors have done a phenomenal job as well. While the protagonist might not be the most likable, the girls in the show are adorable. I personally prefer the manga over the anime, but overall, I highly recommend giving it a watch.

2. Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches

Ryuu Yamada, a former delinquent, enters Suzaku High School hoping to start afresh and leave his troubled past behind. However, the monotony of school life drives him back to his old habits of skipping class and getting into fights. One day, a chance encounter with Urara Shiraishi, a model student, leads to a strange mishap: they accidentally swap bodies after a kiss! The incident unlocks a supernatural ability that allows them to swap bodies by kissing each other.

With the help of Toranosuke Miyamura, a member of the Supernatural Studies Club, and Miyabi Itou, an avid supernatural enthusiast, Ryuu and Urara discover the legend of the Seven Witches of Suzaku High School. Each witch possesses a unique power activated by a kiss. The club sets out on a mission to uncover the identities of all the witches.

The anime adaptation of this manga is impressive with its beautiful art and animation. The storyline progresses at a fast pace, so it is crucial to stay invested in the show to keep up with all the developments. The music complements the show's atmosphere, making it an enjoyable watch.

1. Quintessential Quintuplets

The story of the anime revolves around a high school student named Futaro Uesugi, who is a bright student but has a tough life due to his mother's death, lack of friends, and his father's debts. However, his life takes an interesting turn when he becomes the tutor for the wealthy Nakano family's five identical quintuplet sisters. Despite their disinterest in studying and poor grades, Futaro is determined to help them succeed.

As the story progresses, Futaro develops a unique bond with each of the quintuplets, but his true identity and the quintuplet he eventually marries are only revealed towards the end of the series. One of the most interesting aspects of the anime is that despite their identical appearance, each of the quintuplets has a distinct personality and character traits, making it difficult for Futaro to choose one of them.

Although anime can test your patience at times, it has earned a top spot in the harem anime genre due to its well-written story, unique characters, and emotional depth. If you're a fan of the genre, Quintessential Quintuplets is definitely worth checking out.
